The game’s goal is to build a model of a city full of happy and content citizens. The teams are of maximum 5 players. Each group builds its own view for such a city including its streets, buildings, parks. One of the first and main goals is collecting credits, which in turn will allows the players to buy lands and building. To get such currency, a player must search for “treasures” hidden in the real places and warehouses in Tobacco city. These treasures are in fact codes, for which the players are searching with the help of a map. The harder the code is, the more credit it brings. With these credits, the players can buy lands, build different types of buildings, refine spaces, and so on. They can choose whether the newly built places would be commercial, spiritual, or attractions. Since for winners are declared those who have the happiest citizens in their space, the players must have that into an account and carefully think over what kind of building to build, and when and where to do that. It’s also important to note that the city life and structure are dynamic and changing through the course of the game – city council’s decisions, natural factors, and unexpected events are factors too and can lead to a twist in the game. This way not so attractive areas can turn around and bring happiness to their citizens after a park is being built in close proximation. These events bringing changes occur every several minutes with no one knowing in advance when and how is this to happen. The idea is to have an uncertainty about future events and to not know whether let’s say a meteorite will destroy the houses in your nicest neighborhood. This is a game about the changes in the city – about its birth and evolution. It’s about long-lasting processes that affect citizens through the years and unexpected events that can change the city’s image in the blink of an eye. The aim is to build a successful city with happy citizens. The game’s creators are Departament Gier – a polish group of game designers who have created over 100 games in Poland and all of Europe. ToGatherCity is originally developed for the University of Lodz (Poland) – its original name was SimUniversity, and was later played in Sosnowiec (during the Czasownicy/Time Keepers week of urban games) and Poznan (as a part of the festival Let’s Play Poznan). https://www.facebook.com/DepartamentGier/ Back to the main game page.
