Over one year, the Plovdiv 2019 programme consisting of 601 events, created by 90 direct partnerships from Plovdiv, 150 from Bulgaria and 45 from abroad, with the participation of 4589 artists and individual performers, attracted an audience of over 1,200,000 people.
Beyond the statistics what everyone has now is the positive emotion and memory of the most exciting year for Plovdiv. The European Capital of Culture changed the city for good, brought in new and different energy, moved the layers, made the good vivid and did not hide the bad.
Being both ephemeral in its nature and deeply significant as an impact on peoples’ lives, culture has established itself as the sign of Plovdiv, as a special font to address the world.
A small selection of events takes us back there again, in 2019, with the emotion of the audiences and the magic of the places, to be reminded of the deep meaning and the joy when creating art.
