The works deal with current, socially relevant issues - questions about culture, identity and religion up to control mechanisms of political forces. They illustrate processes within the tensionfield between urbanity and nature, directing one‘s gaze to the parallel worlds of personal sensitivities, as well as to the global effects of human existence. In single images and series, questions on the perception of reality are outlined - in fictive pictorial worlds, documentaries, and even on the sociological study of real living spaces.
With the analog b/w photography, the cyanotype, the photogram and experimental photo editing also classical methods and techniques of photography are displayed.
Around 70 pieces provide insights into the current work of internationally active personalities as well as artists from the academy and amateur sectors.

Graz is the second largest city in Austria and capital of the province of Styria. From the 1950s onwards, it became an important center for the production and mediation of progressive photography – initially playing a greater role than the federal capital of Vienna. This tradition created the perfect conditions for contemporary photography to develop. Protagonists of this era played a significant part in establishing photography as an art form in Austria, creating important institutions and influencing younger generations who attended the photography schools in Graz.
This is a project by the Cultural City Network Graz associated with the programme of Plovdiv 2019 Foundation.
